Tascam launches VL-S5 powered studio monitor at NAMM 2015

Tascam has released a new professional studio monitor at NAMM 2015. The VL-S5 powered 2-way monitor employs a 5” curved Kevlar cone with a high-temperature voice coil and damped rubber surround and a 1” silk dome tweeter, which produces crisp highs without the fatigue of metal components.

The active, bi-amplified power section produces 70W per side – 30W to the highs and 40W for the low end. Other features include balanced and unbalanced XLR and 1/4” inputs with a trim control while a large rear port extends the low end frequency response from 60Hz to 22kHz. The VL-S5 is also shielded to prevent magnetic lines of force from affecting sensitive devices such as computer displays, hard drives, and other computer components.

About Author

MNJ has been writing articles, reviews and blogs for the DV online magazine for the last five years or so. Although he has been playing for longer than he cares to remember and is now officially an 'oldie', he is still mad for all things guitar related and when not busy in his studio he's learning new songs, practising bluegrass guitar, painting his house and taking his dogs out. If banished to a desert island and forced to take only one guitar he'd take a Les Paul. Actually, make that several Les Pauls, a Strat, a Tele, an ES-335, a vintage Martin and some boutique amps. Battery powered obviously.
