Radial launches FunkDrive 500 at NAMM 2015

Radial has launched the FunkDrive 500 at NAMM 2015, a 500 series module designed to bring a combination of distortion and over-the-top tone control to the more adventurous recording engineers.

The FunkDrive is a new 500 series module that combines a powerful EQ with an overdrive circuit to create a variety of creative textures on vocals and instruments alike. Compatible with all standard 500 series racks, the FunkDrive starts with a 3 band semi-parametric EQ including high and low shelving and a fully sweepable midrange. An input drive, master volume and wet-dry mix controls are then added to enable the user to apply anything from subtle overdrive to over the top distortion, acting like a synthesizer filter bank when pushed to the extreme. When used with Radial Workhorse racks, the Omniport ¼” jack acts as an insert point, allowing users to patch in a compressor or other analog gear.

Housed in a completely enclosed steel case, the FunkDrive is well protected against induced hum from adjacent modules while the heavy duty front panel adds heft and durability for a truly professional feel. With a power draw of less than 100 milliamps, the FunkDrive will work in any 500 series rack without concern of over exerting the power supply.

About Author

MNJ has been writing articles, reviews and blogs for the DV online magazine for the last five years or so. Although he has been playing for longer than he cares to remember and is now officially an 'oldie', he is still mad for all things guitar related and when not busy in his studio he's learning new songs, practising bluegrass guitar, painting his house and taking his dogs out. If banished to a desert island and forced to take only one guitar he'd take a Les Paul. Actually, make that several Les Pauls, a Strat, a Tele, an ES-335, a vintage Martin and some boutique amps. Battery powered obviously.
