Gretsch launches Brian Setzer Black Phoenix at NAMM 2015

The impressive looking G6136SLBP provides both classic Gretsch appointments and hot-rodded electrics in a new signature model. Notable features include the ‘silver sparkle’ headstock with Brain Setzer’s signature on the back, ‘silver-sparkle’ body bindings and silver Plexi pickguard. The Black Phoenix is constructed with a ‘Falcon’-style body arched back and front, 3-ply maple top with 1959 trestle bracing, maple ‘U’-shaped neck, ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl neo-classic thumbnail inlays and 22 medium frets.

Hardware includes a Bigsby B6C vibrato tailpiece, Grover Imperial tuners, Schaller straplocks and an Adjusto-matic ‘pinned’ bridge with a rosewood base. Also of note are the Brian Setzer Signature TV Jones pickups with 3-position switching and a single master volume. A Gretsch G6242L deluxe hardshell case is included.

About Author

MNJ has been writing articles, reviews and blogs for the DV online magazine for the last five years or so. Although he has been playing for longer than he cares to remember and is now officially an 'oldie', he is still mad for all things guitar related and when not busy in his studio he's learning new songs, practising bluegrass guitar, painting his house and taking his dogs out. If banished to a desert island and forced to take only one guitar he'd take a Les Paul. Actually, make that several Les Pauls, a Strat, a Tele, an ES-335, a vintage Martin and some boutique amps. Battery powered obviously.
