Nord Unveil the Nord Electro 5

The Nord Electro Series has been a best seller for well over a decade now and the latest version announced by Nord, the Electro 5 looks like it will no doubt continue this reputation. Offering musicians faithful and incredibly detailed recreations and emulations of classic electronic and acoustic keys, the Electro 5 also boasts an expanded memory, a super clear OLED display, a “live” focused program section and the ability to split and layer on the fly between Piano, Organ and Sample sections.

Nord Electro 5 HP 73

Building upon the features and functions of the highly acclaimed organ section of the Electro range, the Electro 5 features a new Principal Pipe Organ mode and a B3 Tone Wheel Bass feature, which gives you left hand control over 16’ and 8’ bass drawbars. This feature can also be used with the piano and sample sections if you require some additional low end girth. The piano section now offers a generous 1GB of piano sample memory, and the inclusion of Sympathetic String Resonance technology taken directly from the Nord Piano gives an incredible realism to both the Grand and Upright piano sounds. The inclusion of the entire Nord Piano Library (DVD format) leaves with plenty of options when utilising that memory and the as ever the Nord Sound Manager software makes quick and easy work of loading sound into your Electro.

A major development in the Electro 5 is a dedicated sample synth section which again boasts an expanded memory (256mb) and further control over attack, decay, release, filter an velocity. Included, the Nord Sample library has plenty of free to use sounds in addition to exclusively licensed recordings and sample from the Mellotron and Chamberlin. A Nord Sample Editor makes light work of cutting and splicing your samples any which you want, and lossless compression makes your memory stretch extremely far whilst never losing that sound quality Nord pride themselves on. As ever, the effect section of the Electro covers you on all fronts and a new amp and speaker emulation taken straight from the flagship Nord C2D Organ is a huge bonus.

The split and layer functionality Nord has developed for the Electro 5 features a “Set List” mode, for easy and quick organisation and grouping of up to 4 programs per song and any naming and grouping can be handled on the road or in the studio without the use of computer. The new Organize function allows programmes and samples to be rearranged and ordered without your Set List settings being affected, so customised dividers can group your different sounds exactly as you want them. Hammer Action Portable and Semi-Weighted Waterfall Fatar keybeds are available.

The Nord Electro 5 will be available with Hammer Action Portable (Electro 5 HP 73) and Semi-Weighted Waterfall (Electro 5D 61 and Electro 5D 73) Fatar keybeds.
