Gibson Memphis announces 1959 ES-175D and ES175DN at NAMM 2015


The ES-175 is one of Gibson’s most enduring models and new for NAMM 2015 are the 1959 ES-175D in Vintage Burst and ES-175DN in Vintage Natural. This period correct hollow body model is an accurate reproduction of the original and features dual PAF-style pickups, a rounded, soft ‘C’ neck and classic arch-top tones. Other features include a maple/poplar/maple body, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, aged celluloid split parallelogram inlays, mother-of-pearl Gibson logo, Kluson Single Ring tulip button tuners and a brass ‘Zig-Zag’ tailpiece with a rosewood compensated bridge.

Gibson has also installed MHS humbuckers with Alnico magnets, CTS pots, and nickel plated ‘VOS’ hardware. New feature include a historic truss rod, rolled neck binding, 45 degree bevel on plastic parts and quartered Adirondack spruce braces. Available in Vintage Burst and Vintage Natural, the 1959 ES-175 also includes a period correct hardshell case.
