Bernie Marsden will be appearing at DV East London on May 12th as part of the Evening with Paul Reed Smith and Friends.

Bernie Marsden was inspired by old school blues guitar players such as Howling Wolf, as well as more contemporary exponents in the shape of Peter Green and Jeff Beck. He would later go on to record a tribute to Green. His first paid gig came at the age of 15 with local act, The Originals. He went on to play with Glenn Cornick’s Wild Turkey in ‘74 and Babe Ruth from ‘75-76, before becoming an original member of Paice, Ashton and Lord in ‘77 and then joining Whitesnake. After leaving the band in ‘82 he pursued several projects but it was not until the 90′s that Bernie appeared back in the public eye. 1992 saw him form the Moody Marsden Band featuring himself on guitar and lead vocals.

In 2006, Bernie re-united with Ian Paice and other ex-Whitesnake members Neil Murray and Don Airey to release Ian Paice and Friends Live in Reading 2006, recorded at the Rivermead Centre in Reading. A DVD of the event was released to raise money for Tong-Len, a charity supporting primary education for deprived children in Northern India.

Blues N Scales: A Snakeman’s Odyssey 1970-2004, was also released around that time serving as a ‘best of’ Bernie’s career and covering all of his various musical endeavours. Another highlight was a performance with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant to celebrate Bob Harris’s 60th birthday. In recent years Bernie has talked often about a much anticipated autobiography and performed with former Alaska buddy Brian Badhams in the Elkie Brooks band. Very recently, Bernie has been recording more solo material – including a collection of covers – and, as always, can be seen regularly performing live and at shows and events endorsing PRS guitars.
