TL Audio announces ‘Starring Youniverse’ contest

A video-based competition launched yesterday is offering fans and users of TL Audio products a chance to win £1000 of free equipment simply by posting a video of themselves on YouTube using their existing TL audio gear.

Dubbed the “Starring Youniverse” competition, the promotion is being driven by a YouTube video of TL Audio’s own Sarah Yule, which you can view below. In the video, Sarah explains that to enter fans need only respond with a video of their own describing “how you use your gear within your own facility”, be that a bedroom studio, a college set-up or elsewhere. Nor does the quality of the video itself matter – a webcam and a healthy dose of enthusiasm might be enough to net the prize. As for the content, the manufacturer is leaving the subject matter up to you, suggesting it might take the form of a review, tips on how to use TL Audio equipment, or a simple description of how it fits into your audio chain.

Be aware however that the competition isn’t being judged by TL Audio itself – it’s the number of views that your video receives that matters most. While the manufacturer is keen to lend as much publicity to each entrant as possible, offering to “post up some information about you, your band or your studio for everyone to see and to give you some promotion”, the eventual winner will be the entrant who’s video has enjoyed the most views.

Here at DV247 Blog we love TL Audio – a great British company making great British products. Originally founded by Tony Larkin in 1990 and joining forces with ex-Neve designer David Kempson, TL Audio began manufacturing and supplying quality valve based equipment to discerning pro-audio clients and soon after became synonymous with reliable, ‘lifetime partner’ valve gear. We know we’re not alone in our high opinion, so we encourage anyone with a TL Audio product to commit their thoughts to video and get posting!

Here’s the “Starring Youniverse” video with Sarah Yule explaining the contest in more depth. We’re looking forward to watching your replies…

About Barney Jameson

Barney Jameson has written 165 post in this blog.

A contributor, editor and in some cases creator of more music and pro audio magazines than he cares to remember, Barney Jameson is a veteran of writing about gear, and a pretty keen singer songwriter to boot.

Having started his musical education reading old copies of the Melody Maker while riding the tube to University in the mid-nineties, Barney once sang in a band called Sugarstone, troubling record company chequebooks not quite enough to make it a career option. Instead, he achieved his goal of starting a music magazine of his own when he founded Playmusic in the early noughties. Later on, having exploited VIP access to as many festivals as possible, he wrote about the pro audio industry throughout Europe and the Middle East, travelling to far-flung destinations such as Dubai, Doha and Muscat (nice mountains).

As the latest addition to the DV247 team, Barney has big plans. But when he’s not plotting online domination of the musical instrument world, he keeps himself busy writing songs on a battered old acoustic guitar and playing them to audiences in his home town.
