peavey-revalver-mkiii1Peavey has launched the latest version of its acclaimed Revalver modelling software, the Revalver MkIII.V. There are nine new amp and effects models in the new version, which continues to offer users of the software the same control over tonality and gain of the modeled amps found in the original version.

The new models in this version include the Peavey 3120, Peavey Sensation, Peavey Masterpiece. Budda Superdrive II, and Budda Superdrive V Series as well as the 6505 and 6505 Plus. New effects include the Peavey VCL-2 tube compressor and the Buddah Budwah expression pedal. All the deep editing features of the MKIII version are retained.

Revalver uses an algorithm to analyse the interactions of an amplifier’s components and maps them to reproduce every detail of the circuit, thus allowing users to customise their own ultimate amp models from the selection on offer.

The software utilises drag and drop to build amp, preamp, power amp, stompbox and effects combinations quickly and easily. Changing tubes or their voltage parameters on amp models is also possible, using the Tweak Module GUI customisation tool. Fifteen elements from each tube stage as well as 17 different pre amp and power amp tubes are available to customise, affording the user a “world of limitless tonal possibilities”.

The Peavey Revalver stombox and effects  section includes chorus, distortion, wah, tremelo, compression, delay, limiter, octaver and more. An FFT-based convolution reverb is included offering complex and smooth reverbs and allowing the import of .WAV samples. The VST host module allows for the loading of third party VSTs to use inside the Revalver software. There are more than 150 speaker cabinet simulations using membrane modeling and real-time convolution. Utility functions include tuner, signal splitter, analyser and more.

System requirements include a 1GHz CPU with 512 MB RAM, 1024 x 768 screen resolution, VST or RTAS host with an ASIO/WDM soundcard (Windows), or VST/AU host, RTAS host or sound card (Mac). Peavey’s Revalver MkIII software has been voted ‘Best Home Studio Gear 2009′  as well as a ‘Premier Gear Award’ alongside picking up Platinum and Value awards from various industry publications both in the US and UK.

Meanwhile, the Peavey Nano Vypyr packs 11 amp models and 32 effects cominations. Peavey claims that it’s the ultimate ‘grab-and-go’ portable modeling guitar amp. This 15 Watt mini package can be powered by either an AC adaptor or four D batteries. It contains a 6.5″ speaker in a cube enclosure with a ported design for enhanced bass response.

The Nano has a microphone input with level control, chromatic tuner, aux input, headphone out and an adjutable handle. Analogue amp models include two rock, two metal, two lead and one acoustic. There are global EQ controls and the DSP effects include chorus, compression, wah, rotary speaker and reverb. An optional expression pedal offers users real time control of the effects section.
