Waves announces Chris Lord-Alge Artist Signature Collection

The Chris Lord-Alge Artist Signature Collection and Jack Joseph Puig Artist Signature Collection have both been announced by plug-in developer Waves, leading a number of new releases that were initially previewed in January at the NAMM 2010 exhibition.
Both collections boast especially produced plug-ins including compressors, EQs, and reverbs that have been chosen to reflect the signature artist’s processing chains and settings, and are intended to expand the developer’s already popular Waves Artists Collaborations series.
Famous for his love of compression, Chris Lord Alge is a significant addition to Waves’ roster of collaborating engineers and brings a distinctive signature sound to his bundle. The engineer first came to prominence during the 1980s, creating a peculiarly American, radio-friendly sound in records such as James Brown’s Living In America, Joe Cocker’s Unchain my Heart, and Bruce Springsteen albums including Dancing in the Dark, Cover Me, and Born in the USA. More recently the Grammy Award winner has worked with artists such as Green Day on American Idiot, U2, Creed, Snow Patrol, Nickelback, Jimmy Eat World, Santana and others.
Included within his collection are six application-specific plug-ins dubbed CLA Bass, CLA Drums, CLA Vocals, CLA Guitars, CLA Effects and CLA Unplugged, all of which, says Waves, are the result of “close collaboration” between the engineer and the developer’s R&D team.
The Jack Joseph Puig Collection is a stark contrast, meanwhile, basing itself around an engineer that Waves describes as having “redefined the role of the producer/mixer”. Puig has worked with an eclectic mix of artists including John Mayer, the Black Eyed Peas, No Doubt, Panic at the Disco, Weezer and the Pussycat Dolls. This new collection marks the second time that the engineer has worked closely with Waves, having previously developed a bundle based on his collection of rare vintage equipment.
Much like the Chris Lord Alge bundle, the Jack Joseph Puig Artist Signature Collection is based around application-specific plug-ins comprising JJP Bass, JJP Strings & Keys, JJP Drums, JJP Vocals, JJP Guitars and JJP Cymbals & Percussion.
Also new from the developer are two additions to its Waves Modelling range – the Eddie Kramer HLS Channel and Eddie Kramer PIE Compressor. Both plug-ins are based on the vintage equipment used by Kramer during sessions with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin at London’s Olympic studios.
The HLS Channel Strip has been modelled on the Helios recording desk that was installed in the mobile truck used by The Rolling Stones and which later featured in Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water. Meanwhile the PIE Compressor, as its name implies, has been modelled on the vintage Pye compressor – a famous name in British recording studios during the 1960s and 1970s.
Finally, the Horizon plug-in bundle was also previewed at NAMM, gathering together more than 50 of Waves’ most popular plug-ins. The developer describes Horizon as “a significant step up for audio professionals specialising in music production” thanks to its inclusion of “vintage tools and high-end mastering processors”. Over 30 of the plug-ins originally bundled in the Waves Platinum release can be found within.

I can’t believe how awesome the Black Eyed Peas’ new track is! The Time is so catchy even though it samples The Time of My Life! I cant wait til The Black Eyed Peas finish their 6th album at the end of November.
