The Bugera BC30-212The BC30-212 leads the new amplifier releases from Bugera today, with the all-valve 30 Watt two-channel combo taking one of the best loved guitar amps in history as its inspiration.

Including a true tube rectifier, the BC30-212 is described by Bugera as “responding to the subtlest characteristics of a guitarist’s playing style”. The combo’s first channel has dual 12AX7 preamp valves coupled to a single ECC83A in channel two, with independent effects loops on both. Inside the combo meanwhile is a 12″ 12G100B8 loudspeaker intended to deliver aggressive tones, and a 12″ 12G80A8 speaker for warmer sounds with clear midrange.

Also new in the Bugera range is the BC15 tube combo, delivering 15 Watts with a 12AX7 valve in its preamp stage. Intended for rehearsals, recording sessions and small live performances, the combo boasts a two-band EQ and gain button to activate a distortion channel. An 8″ driver is housed within the cabinet.

The BVV3000 is new for bass players, meanwhile. Delivering 300 Watts, the all-valve bass amplifier head is hand-built and includes three 12AX7s plus a pair of 12AU7 tubes in the preamp section, as well as six 6550s in its output stage.

The head features what the manufacturer calls “a multitude of tone-shaping options”, including bass, mid (with a five-position voicing selector) and treble, plus ‘ultra-high’ and ‘ultra-low’ switches. Also available for players is a neat adjustable Bias control that means users can bias the amp without  recourse to special tools or equipment. A DI connection is also included on-board.

Finally, Bugera has expanded its line of preamp, power and rectifier valves. The brand is known for using its own valves within its combos and amplifiers, and is now making them available to the public. According to Bugera, the valves are subjected to a 48-hour burn-in prior to use, as well as being subjected to tests intended to measure their electronic performance, microphonics and continuity. Only 10 per cent of the valves make it through the testing process.

About Barney Jameson

Barney Jameson has written 165 post in this blog.

A contributor, editor and in some cases creator of more music and pro audio magazines than he cares to remember, Barney Jameson is a veteran of writing about gear, and a pretty keen singer songwriter to boot.

Having started his musical education reading old copies of the Melody Maker while riding the tube to University in the mid-nineties, Barney once sang in a band called Sugarstone, troubling record company chequebooks not quite enough to make it a career option. Instead, he achieved his goal of starting a music magazine of his own when he founded Playmusic in the early noughties. Later on, having exploited VIP access to as many festivals as possible, he wrote about the pro audio industry throughout Europe and the Middle East, travelling to far-flung destinations such as Dubai, Doha and Muscat (nice mountains).

As the latest addition to the DV247 team, Barney has big plans. But when he’s not plotting online domination of the musical instrument world, he keeps himself busy writing songs on a battered old acoustic guitar and playing them to audiences in his home town.
