gibson-keb-mo-blues-masterThe Keb’ Mo’ Bluesmaster leads a new crop of signature Gibson acoustics to be launched at NAMM.

Three time Grammy award winner, LA born Keb’ Mo’ has his roots firmly in the Mississippi delta and the blues of Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. His contempory style, although steeped in the blues tradition, encompasses pop, rock, folk and jazz and his solo work and collaborations with artist like Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne have won him accolades all over the world.

The Bluesmaster is inspired by the ‘L’ series small waisted guitars used by Robert Johnson on King of the Delta Blues Singers. The top is solid Adirondack red spruce, a rare tonewood used on guitars from the golden age of the flat top, and with solid mahogany back and sides, quarter sawn solid mahogany neck and East Indian rosewood fretboard and bridge.

The board is 1.805″ at the nut; bridge saddle and nut are bone and it’s fitted with an LR Baggs Element pickup which reproduces the guitar’s natural sound and does not affect the acoustic tone. The Keb’ Mo’ comes with a Gibson hardshell case and is available in Antique Natural or Vintage Sunburst. Production is Limited to 300, all signed by the man himself.

The Gibson John Hiatt J45, also unvieled at NAMM, acknowledges the Grammy nominated, Indiana born singer songwriter’s contribution not only to American music culture but to the popularity of the Gibson acoustic guitar as a songwriting tool. Made in Gibson’s Montana plant the J45 is a round shouldered jumbo, the most popular in the Gibson line, and renowned for its balanced tone, warm bass and good projection.

Other Gibson models released at the show include an Aaron Lewis signature acoustic and a 50th anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard. Check back later for more details.
