AER Acoustic Amplification
| Posted in Guitar

Founded in Germany in 1992, AER, or Audio Electric Research had one aim; to produce first class Acoustic Guitar Amps and amplification for acoustic instruments. As we all know from experience, it’s not an exact science. There are so many factors involved in reproducing the actual sound of an acoustic instrument, the type of pickup, the EQ facilities available, the speaker set up; it’s often a very unsatisfactory experience. Nothing can really beat standing in front of a good quality microphone with a top notch PA but it’s usually not practical unless your entire band is acoustic.
AER have gone a long way to solving these problems with small, lightweight combos which are now regarded worldwide as the ‘number one’. They can be used as all in one solutions to solo singers/guitarists who may be doing a bar or restaurant gig and don’t want to haul a PA; the mic inputs work really well and the speaker design means there’s no lack of extended frequency.
They start with Alpha 40, a 40 watt package which boasts dual inputs, phantom power and digital reverb. There’s a 50 watt version of this called the Alpha Plus in black or brown finish. Next up is the award winning Compact 60 Mk2, probably AER’s most popular and top selling model, which features two independent channels, a 60 watt output, tuner out, and digital effects, still only weighing in at 8.5Kg.
It’s not only guitarists that are catered for; there’s the Basecube 2, which puts out an effortless 500 watts of undistorted low end through a 12” driver and 1” horn. Sure, it’s expensive, but what an investment in quality, which should repay you gig after gig.
If you’re serious about your acoustic sound, serious about quality, there’s only one serious solution, AER.
