Synergy 1TB external driveBack in ’96 I remember been chuffed to mint balls about my then new ’3′ (woah!) gigabyte hard drive – cost was £350! 2009, and how things have changed. Leading Music Computer brand Synergy have just plonked these two models of Terabyte plus external drives onto the market and I’m gonna be straight in there thank you very much.

Like most of you guys, I have a lot of music & data files, images, documents.. and I mean, a lot! To protect this collection, I have a very simple system that has served me well through the years – BACKUP EVERYTHING TWICE and give the second drive to a trusted friend to keep at his/her house. This way, if, God forbid, you have a home theft or fire, your precious data is safe and sound in another location. I myself look after a friends drive and we both periodically collect our respective drives, update them, and return them to their ‘safe-house’.

With multi-connectivity options (eSATA, 1 X Firewire 400 and 2 X FW800, plus USB 2.0), there are actually 3 versions available, running storage capacities of 1.5TB, 1TB and 500 GB. Spec’d and approved by the Synergy team and aimed primarily for use with PC and Mac Music Computers, these are the drives I’ve been holding out for to meet my next level storage needs.
