SE Titan – Big Mic, Small Bucks

SE Electronics Titan MicrophoneI’m a user of SE Electronics microphones, with some extensive hammering of an SE2200A from my electro-pop artist recently. It made a damn fine step up from my previous microphone, especially when teamed with the ridiculously useful SE Reflexion filter. So here we are in a summer of madness on software deals, flip to hardware and SE throw the mighty spec’d Titan mic into the ‘how much(!?!)’ arena!

The SE Titan is a tremendous all rounder mic, capable of handling sung vocals, broadcast vox, percussion (taking advantage of great transient response) and acoustic instruments too.  Utilising titanium properties (making for excellent diaphragm efficiency), the Titan is a transformer-less, multi-pattern, Class A FET,  phantom powered condenser mic. Featuring the very much expected -10db pad, also present and correct is a switchable bass roll [useful of course and recommended for most vocal recording scenarios].

No need also to worry about stand mounting and storage here as SE have bundled the Titan with a quality shock-mount, and a safe house in the form of a metallic, foam packed carry case. Full tech specs can be found on the DV product page, but suffice to say I wish this and other mic deals had been around when I invested in the 2200A – Darn!
